Kathy Holzer.      I have done a number of paintings in watercolor; but about two years ago, I began working in pastels. This media, for me, is incredibly exciting to work with. I am something of an explorer when I paint, and I prefer to let the painting emerge as I go. In this way, I can change things about to my heart's delight, and make wonderful color discoveries as I work. I love the variety of color papers I can use with pastel. No longer restricted to white, the paper colors now suit my mood of the moment and what I feel about what is before me. My current artistic endeavors are always focused on improving my drawing and composition skills. However, my latest works are primarily in mixed media and three-dimensional collage pieces. Exploring the borderlines where sculpture becomes painting and vice versa, a play of movement between three dimensions and two; in an abstract to semi-abstract style. |
