David Cook is a painter who works in acrylics and mixed media. He is also a glass artist who works in painted, stained, etched, fused and cast glass. In addition to serving as managing editor for a local newspaper, he is currently a part-time resident artist at the Washington Glass School in Mt. Rainier, Maryland. He has participated in numerous shows throughout his career and his paintings and glass art are on display in various corporate and residential spaces. "I've been involved in various aspects of art for more than 30 years. My general objective is to design representational works that combine traditional as well as non-traditional materials and images in innovative ways. A subset of my work includes a special emphasis on African American images and themes." Cook received a BA in Fine Arts from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD and has studied painting and glass art at various venues in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC.
