Zandra Chestnut.       As a teen, I was given a polaroid camera as a gift and took photos of friends and events. I enjoyed capturing the events and creating albums of memories. As an adult, I acquired a manual Olympus single lens reflex camera, used self-training and experimented by taking photos of my children, family and local surroundings. Eventually, I put my love of photography on the back burner as I raised my children, because I could not afford the film and processing costs. Now in retirement, I am excited about the new digital Nikon I use. It makes processing affordable and the enhancement possibilities limitless. I'm attracted to nature, seascapes, landscapes, and particularly flowers.

Gordon Parks is my favorite artist. Parks became not just a photographer, but a film producer, poet, musician, journalist, wrote novels and a community activist. He took a camera bought from a pawn shop and changed the course of his life using his untapped raw talents. He came from a poor family and became a renowned, respected American icon.
