Robert Bevard, a native of Maryland, is a self-taught representational artist, and enjoys the lessons he learns with each piece he starts. Bob believes that each new piece is part of an evolution he is undergoing as an artist. While working in oils, watercolors, graphite, and pen & ink, he renders his images with great precision and detail. He started drawing and painting in the late 1980's and currently devotes himself exclusively to producing fine art. With the encouragement of his wife, Charlotte, and with much thought, he decided to take the leap and become a full time artist in 2002. Since then, he has maintained a studio in Bowie, Maryland.

Bob is continually fascinated with the facial expressions and body language of wildlife, which he tries to capture on film for later reference in his work. He explores the intensity and confusion in those expressions, and their posture often leads him to ponder just what they are up to. It is this he depicts in much of his work. He likes to leave the viewer with a piece of work that arouses their curiosity.

Wildlife has become his favorite subject matter, and he travels widely in search of subjects to study and paint. Bob loves nature and finds himself especially drawn to aviary. When doing field research, he takes numerous photos and produces many sketches to fully capture the personality and unique traits of each subject. Using these sketches, he captures the intensity of his subjects to tell a story which he hopes reaches the imagination of the viewer.

Bob is a Signature Artist member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and an Associate member of the Society of Animal Artists , PGAA and The Guild of Bowie Artists. Bob has exhibited his work in numerous juried shows along the East Coast, and he has won multiple awards. His work is in many private collections.
