The Prince George's Artists Association was founded in 1968 by a small group of artists dedicated to the promotion and stimulation of visual arts in and around the county. To meet its goal, PGAA organizes and publicizes several exhibits a year and arranges monthly meetings for members to exchange discoveries and experiences with fellow artists. Frequent demonstrations and lectures encourage further education in the arts by noted area artists, and instructional workshops are set up whenever group interest warrants. Since the Association has been in existence, art interests have been varied and member artists have worked in two-dimensional media– watercolor, oil, pastel, acrylics, pencil, pen and ink, scratchboard and photography. They have also worked in the three-dimensional arts of sculpture and large collages. It is the goal of PGAA to continue to foster the appreciation of the beauty and inspiration found in art. We welcome anyone with art interest to join our group to share their talents, style, thoughts, ideas and background. Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the 4th Tuesday of the months: September, October, November, January, February, March, April, and May. The location is the New Carrollton Municipal Center, 6016 Princess Garden Parkway, New Carrollton, MD 20784. See Membership in PGAA for information concerning PGAA membership. |
